I
was trained as a family physician in the areas of obstetrics, gynecology,
pediatrics, adult internal medicine, surgery, psychiatry, and community
medicine. But after many years of practice I have come to realize that not
one answer is right for everyone. People need to be understood as
individuals, in the context of not only their biology, but their
intellectual, emotional, and spiritual selves. In
addition to a traditional family practice, I believe in a personalized and
integrative approach, which includes the following disciplines, which I offer
in my medical practice. Click on the links below for more information on each
discipline: Integrative
& Allopathic Medicine Allopathic
medicine uses the familiar forms of treatment, such as surgery, pharmacologic
agents (drugs), physical therapy, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. It is
very helpful when there is serious injury, infection, and life threatening
disease. Medical
acupuncture can be helpful for many kinds of problems and can be used safely
in conjunction with other kinds of treatments. Unlike
single herbs in Western herbal tradition, Chinese herbal formulae use multiple
herbs at the same time. The practitioner must make a proper diagnosis using
the Chinese paradigm in order to prescribe Chinese herbal formulae safely. Herbs
are widely used for their healing properties in many parts of the world
today, as they were used in ancient times. Because they can interact with pharmaceutical
medications, it is vital that the practitioner be knowledgeable in the safe
use of herbal remedies. I
employ homeopathic methods when they are indicated and when the patient
wishes to use homeopathic remedies for their treatment. |
